I had the pleasure to work for Ngbk, one of my favorite cultural organizations here in Berlin. Specifically, I was asked to develop the identity for an exhibition and a symposium and later to design a catalogue.
The main title for the exhibit was “the ultimate capital is the sun” and the one for the symposium was “the metabolism of the social brain”. Both were connected to the greek word metabole and investigated the understanding of ‘metabolism’ in contemporary art in a dialogue with philosophical and scientific research beyond Eurocentric rationalization. I took as inspiration some images of bacteria under the microscope, and I was able to find two that were both having similar shape to the sun and to the brain. These together with the typography became the main identity of the exhibition. The catalogue is about 160 pages and features texts by Dipesh Chakrabarty, Reza Negarestani and Beatriz Preciado.
